Anwili Ojiekere Recounts Painful Loss of Second Child, Urges Believers Not to Quit

By Moboluwape Olasunkanmi

Popular gospel actor and minister, Anwili Ojiekere, has shared an emotional testimony about losing her second child, using her painful experience to encourage believers not to abandon their faith in seasons of deep sorrow, Gospel Film News can report.

Speaking during a recent ministration which was followed by Gospel Film News, Anwili opened up about a difficult period in her life when she was heavily pregnant and had just been transferred to another city for ministry work. Despite the pressures that came with the transition, she remained committed to serving and pouring into the lives of others.

According to the actress, what was meant to be a joyful day of delivery suddenly turned into heartbreak. The day she was admitted to the hospital to give birth became the day she lost her baby. www.gospelfilmnews.com

Describing the moment as overwhelming, she admitted that she questioned God while lying on her hospital bed in tears. She wondered why, after faithfully serving in ministry, her child could not be saved. The grief, she said, felt suffocating.

However, in the midst of her pain, something unexpected happened. While still hospitalized, she received a call from a man battling addiction. Unaware of her loss, he simply reached out, asking her to pray for him as he struggled with withdrawal symptoms.

Despite her broken state, Anwili said she felt a strong prompting in her spirit to rise and pray. Though she questioned how she could minister under such circumstances, she obeyed. She prayed over the man, and she later testified that the chains of addiction were broken that day.

Drawing from Hebrews 5:7 and Luke 18:1, she reminded believers not to give up during what she described as their “days of the flesh” – seasons marked by tears, confusion, and heavy burdens. She emphasized that even Jesus prayed with loud cries and tears, urging Christians to remain steadfast in prayer regardless of circumstances.

A few weeks after the painful incident, she received a message from someone encouraging her not to quit, noting that many women were looking up to her. That message, she said, made her reflect deeply on purpose and assignment.

Challenging her audience, Anwili warned that quitting in moments of pain can affect generations. According to her, choosing purpose over pain is never easy, but it is necessary.
