INTERVIEW: In 2024 Devil Will Come For Drama Ministers, But…- Kayode Babalola
The joy of any team, association, family or organization is improvement on whatever they do. The gospel film ministry seems to experience some upsurge in the year 2023 in terms of Production. The year 2024 just began and has its peculiarities. In this exclusive interview with Oluwafemi Dosu of Gospel Film News, gospel film director and actor, Daramola Kayode Babalola revealed likely ways the devil will fight gospel film makers in 2024 because of the achievement recorded in 2023. He also talked about prophecies that was released late last year and early this year on what 2024 holds. Excerpt:
1. Alot of prophecies have been released by various prophets and pastors, what’s your take on those prophecies?
God gives us prophecies for different reasons . Sometimes to serve as a note of warning to prevent some things happening . Sometimes to give us a glimpse of things to come so as to prepare or be expectant . Sometimes so that we know how to pray and what to pray about . Sometimes to give us hope and take us out of despair – to strengthen our believe that the future is beautiful and God is for us .
However , not all prophesies are for public consumption. Jesus in Matthew 13:11 was telling His disciples that they will understand the secrets of kingdom better than the multitudes so though He can speak for the disciples in plain language , He had to speak to the multitude in parables because their level of comprehension of kingdom matters is not yet high enough.
Therefore , God reveals some prophecies so that we can pray about them or to warn us of some things but they may not be for public consumption. Otherwise, we’ll just create unnecessary chaos and confusion .
2. In time past, some prophecies have been declared and didn’t come to pass, what’s your position on this?
Not all prophecies come to pass. God sometimes changes His mind.
God instructed prophet Isaiah in 2 kings 20 to tell king Hezekiah that he will die. The king prayed and begged God and God changed His mind and even extended the king’s years. Is prophet Isaiah a fake prophet ? No. Is God a Liar ? No. Is the prophecy not real? It was real . But God is sovereign and He has every right to change His mind .
God releases some prophecies because He wants us to pray and as long as we pray with sincerity, God will change His mind. That is why ministers should not rush to proclaim a prophecy except God says it is for public consumption.
Maybe God just want the saints to pray and then He will change His mind and you have gone ahead to broadcast to the world when God has not asked you to do so.
The world may tag you a liar and that was the fear that Jonah had. He knows that God is benevolent and merciful and He can change His mind concerning destroying Nineveh. Some prophecies are very real but God changes His mind concerning prophecies. Some prophecies are actually the personal feeling of the prophet and not from God. They are not real . Therefore , they will not come to pass.
3. As a minister of God, what has God told you concerning the year 2024?
What God has told me is for my personal consumption but for Nigerian Drama ministers at large , it is our year of Expansion. We are expanding beyond limits and borders. We are going to have great projects this year and the world will take more notice of us . The quality of our jobs will skyrocket this year and we are getting closer to our place of relevance in the world.
4. What’s your advise to believers in 2024
Believers should stay with God, There will be that temptation to seek alternatives. Let us not be weary in doing good for we shall reap in due season if we faint not . Stay with God. When others are down in 2024, you will say there is a lifting up. Yes, the world will have its problems but God will take care of His own.
5. How can you rate the Gospel Film ministry in 2023 and what do you think filmmakers can do better in 2024?
The Nigerian Gospel film ministry grew in leaps and bounds in 2023.
We are picking up from where we left in 2024. Some people are still doing things the old way because they feel they are getting results but the Bible says whoever knows good and does not do it , it is a sin to him .
We can consider the following aspects for improvement.
– Better welfare
– More professionalism
– excellence in our filmmaking
– great stories and better story telling
– making a conscious effort to give God only the best. – your movies are sacrifices, God must accept you and then accept your sacrifice which is your film . Your heart must be right with God and as you act ,produce , direct and in everything you do , you must always ask yourself the question- is this the best I can give to my God ?
Irrespective of any producer or director because you are not doing it because of them .
6. Your final word for film makers
To my fellow drama ministers ;
This year, the devil will come for us .
Because the devil sees that we are so close to where we are going and we have been doing exploits for the kingdom, he will come for us .
He will bring issues like ;
– strive
– envy/jealousy
– pride , ego
– competition spirit
– caucus spirit, division and schism
– Terrible ambitious desperation
– selfishness and “my own” spirit. Everyone will be too concerned with ‘my own’, ‘my thing ‘, ‘my platform’, ‘myself’ etc.
– the spirit of mammon- money, more money , anything for money , it’s all about money.
– fame and popularity
– sin and carelessness – the things that used to scare you no longer does . You allow some laxity and you are more free with some things than before .
– Results and success .
everything will be about results to some drama ministers this year and that will be their undoing . Some people’s slogan is ;“you can’t argue with results “
But God is not just a God of results , He is a God of process also and the journey is equally important to God as well as the destination .
Your heart must be right
Your reasons for doing things .
Your motivations .
The things driving you must not be pure ambition and numbers.
God is more interested in your heart than your result .
You can’t use illegitimate means to meet legitimate needs .
But most people ‘s pride and ego may not allow them to consider this.
God is more interested in the things that drive and motivate you , God is more interested in your heart than your results .
Men see results , God sees the heart.
