I Want My Late Son Immortalized, Father of Late Set Designer, OlaOluwa Lawal

By Oluwafemi Dosu

The father of the late talented set designer, Olaoluwa Dare Lawal, has shared a heartfelt desire to see his son’s legacy live on, Gospel Film News learnt.

In a conversation with Evang. (Aare) Kolade Segun-Okeowo, The Aare Asoludero of Simawa Kingdom and gospel filmmaker, Olaoluwa’s father expressed his deep longing to have his son immortalized through his works and the memories of those who knew him.

Olaoluwa made significant contributions to the gospel film industry, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those he worked with. His father emphasized the importance of keeping his memory alive through his works and the stories of those who had the privilege of working alongside him.

In his conversation with Evang. Kolade Segun-Okeowo, Olaoluwa’s father also cautioned against those who would seek to distort his son’s legacy through selfish narratives on social media. He urged those who knew Olaoluwa to remain true to his memory and to celebrate his life and work in a manner that reflects his values and contributions.

Recall that Gospel Film News had earlier reported that a special service of songs is set to take place on Sunday, June 8th, 2025 at 4pm organized by The All Nigeria Conference of Evangelical Drama Ministers, ANCEDRAM to honour Olaoluwa’s life and legacy, the event serves as a testament to the impact he had on the industry and the people around him. It is hoped that his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of artists and filmmakers. A candle night procession will also take place on Monday for the deceased.

As the gospel film industry and those who knew Olaoluwa come together to celebrate his life and work, his father’s wish is that his son’s legacy will live on. Through his contributions to the industry and the memories shared by those who knew him, Olaoluwa’s impact will continue to be felt for years to come.
