A filmmaker and actor, Ayobami Adegboyega has raised concerns about Television Stations showing gospel films without getting permission from the producers. He said it is wrong because these films are made with hard work, money, and sacrifice, and should be treated with respect, Gospel Film News gathered.
The Husband and Wife movie series producer made this known in a post on his verified Social Media handle on Thursday.
His post on social media has sparked many reactions from netizens. www.gospelfilmnews.com
A Netizens named Judy Audu, agreed with him, saying there should be orderliness and that TV stations must ask before using anyone’s work.
Another Netizen, Emmanuel Friday argued that some stations only want to help spread the gospel, noting that if producers always demand payment first, some stations might stop showing gospel films and focus on secular movies instead.
Some Netizens advised that filmmakers should take legal action insisting that if producers did not work hard to become known, the stations would not freely show their films, suggesting suing TV stations that do not follow the rules.
Others explained that many years ago, some church leaders encouraged free showing of gospel films to help the message reach more people, but things are different now because gospel movies are more popular and valuable.
Another netizen by the name, Moody Adegbenro Adedoyin also mentioned that the same thing happens with gospel musicians, adding that some radio stations play songs without permission and then claim they are promoting the artistes.
The conversation has led to calls for better rules, communication, and respect for the work of gospel filmmakers in Nigeria.
