How Marital Quarrel Gave Birth To Drama Ministry, Healing Homes – Kolade Segun-Okeowo

For Kolade Segun-Okeowo, drama is far more than entertainment; it is a divine tool for healing homes, restoring relationships, and strengthening faith. The vision to deploy drama as a means of marital and family counselling, he reveals, was born out of a deeply personal experience.

In an exclusive interview with Gospel Film News, Segun-Okeowo recounted how, in 2010, a major disagreement with his wife, despite being over 14 years into their marriage, triggered a sobering realization. If they could still experience such intense conflict after many years together, he wondered, what must younger couples be going through? That moment of reflection marked the birth of their family-focused drama ministry, which later produced the acclaimed series, House on the Rock.

According to him, drama resonates deeply because it reflects real emotions and everyday struggles. When people see their own experiences portrayed on screen or stage, it validates their pain and reassures them that they are not alone. “Drama breaks barriers,” he explained. “It sparks conversations and opens doors for healing.”

He shared powerful testimonies that underscores the impact of the ministry. One involved a woman who had became deeply offended with God and had resolved to abandon her faith. While visiting a friend, she casually watched one of their drama productions. By the end of the film, her heart was softened, and she returned to God through Christ.

Another unforgettable moment occurred during a drama ministration centered on forgiveness. A couple who had been estranged for years saw their own story vividly mirrored on stage. The message struck them so profoundly that they reconciled immediately and later restored their marriage, clear evidence, Segun-Okeowo said, of God’s power working through art. www.gospelfilmnews.com

Balancing ministry and family life, he noted that it has always been intentional. To remain present for his wife and children, Segun-Okeowo deliberately located his office within his home. At different seasons, he reduced ministry engagements and even set up production studios at home to ensure that family was never sacrificed on the altar of service.

Offering counsel to couples in ministry, his advice is both practical and heartfelt: pray together, communicate openly, accommodate differing opinions, serve God jointly, and never forget to play and laugh together. According to him, God values the family first, and no ministry should ever destroy the very home it was meant to bless.
