Reconciliation (Part 58)

We need to ask her to show us the ” way”, she must be a smart girl, she is now “eating” the money she didn’t work for”

Agnes froze after hearing this, she wondered what made her stroll that evening, she wanted to walk back but it seemed her feet were glued to the ground.

“Money that she has been cunningly eating before oga madam died”

“You no dey serious oo”

“Na true, I hear say oga madam like am wella. All these “I neva chop ladies” wey full church, smart girl attached herself to money when her Oga died.”

“Maybe she used jazz”

“Who knows, but na beautiful girl sha”

“Me self fine no be small”

Agnes moved closer and saw the chefs, she wanted to confront them, instead she walked slowly back to the apartment, it was of no use she thought.

James noticed her downcast face as she entered.

“Babes, what’s up?”

“It is well”.

” I know , but what is it?”.

“Please is it possible you speak to the public about how you met me?”.

“We agreed this will be after our one year wedding anniversary”.

” Yes I know but I am very sure that I am not a gold digger”.

“Agnes”.

“Please excuse me , I need to take a nap”.

“Darling, have I offended you?.

” No, it’s not about you , as much I have decided not be worried by people’s opinion but it’s just good for people to know I didn’t jump at you after madam’s death”.

“That’s quite obvious but where is this from now?”.

“The story is already in Ghana , I heard it myself”.

“Wunmi is not lousy”.

“She wasn’t the one”.

“Then who?”.

The Reconciliation Part 59

Agnes kept quiet, she suddenly feared the chefs might be punished if she exposed them.

“Don’t worry darling, I will be fine, my apologies for bringing this up”.

“You are covering up something, but I will leave you to rest, my advice is that don’t let whatever God gives you slip away because of other people’s opinion”.

” Ha”.

“I thought you believed in this relationship, in me, in continuing with the twins where their mum stopped and in you extending the James Lubiya’s clan”

Agnes sat up immediately.

“I believe in this but..”

“But what please? I prayed for a lady that will be a good wife to me after Kate’s death and God brought you, I had options but I chose to listen to God, it’s time to defend your marriage and stop listening to hearsay”.

Agnes was silent.

” That’s why you need to arise and be all God wants you to be so that they can know He didn’t make a mistake of bringing us together. Let people see that you a great addition to my family”.

“I’m sorry darling”

“We really shouldn’t be doing this on the eve of your birthday, you know we should be in celebration mood”.

“I know, I sincerely apologize.

Agnes woke up to a great surprise the following morning.

A saxophonist was already in the sitting room by the time she woke up and has she ever seen a more beautiful birthday cake than the one Tiwa and Wunmi brought? Definitely, she hasn’t. What more she got a new Kente fabric skirt and blouse courtesy of the couple too.

By the evening of that day, Tiwa drove her and her husband to a residential estate in Accra, it was a surprise when Tiwa gave them a beautiful three bedroom apartment as their wedding gift.

” Dear Cousin”, he started,”for all the encouragement and support over the years, would you please accept this as a token from me and my loving wife? I know you have better houses than this”.

“You gave me a house, Tiwa, you gave me a house”. James said as they hugged each other, tears dropped from Tiwa’s eyes as he remembered the period James’s family accommodated his parents when their house was flooded.

He slept in James’s room throughout and that was when they bonded, since then, he saw James more than being his cousin, he became his friend and confidant since then.

Now, he can give a house to the person who accommodated him in his room as a child.

The Reconciliation (Part 60)

“Thanks a lot , this is a great surprise and I must say I am humbled to be a recipient of this gift” James said.

“Welcome dearest cousin”Tiwa said.

“But can I give the house to someone else?” James asked.

“Why? Don’t you like it ? We can …Wunmi asked.

Wunmi, please calm down, I like the house”

“Let’s give the house to the madam as her birthday gift”James said.

Wunmi heaved a deep sigh.

James took the key of house and handed it over to Agnes.

” A house for me, am I dreaming?” Agnes shouted and hugged her husband.

” At least, we can use this to welcome her Royal Majesty to our family” James said

“Yes” Tiwa and Wunmi chorused.

“I just love this, at least I am sure someone will be visiting Ghana more.” Tiwa said.

“Tiwa, you can’t be serious, is this what the gift is all about?”

“No, I am just sure whenever Agnes visits, you will also be around”

“You are Oliver Twist’s cousin but anyways thanks a lot, I am deeply grateful”.

Agnes walked to the restaurant at the resort to have her breakfast the following morning. James was on a phone call when she left.

She smiled as the chef took her through the menu on the table.

“Can you advise me on what to take?”

“Ma, it depends on you but we have a new menu, would you like to try it?”.

“Really, Hmmm, I need to make a smart choice”

“OK ma”

“You know I used to make foolish decisions until I met Jesus and the Spirit of God began to direct me since then”

The chef smiled.

“He even chose a husband for me and people now see me as a smart babe”.

The chef looked down immediately and muttered “Really ma”.

“Yes dear, that’s my secret, would you allow God to direct you too?”

The chef was silent.

“Try Him, He is willing, you will be in for a great turnaround”.

The chef was still silent.

Can I bring a book for you when I come for lunch?

The chef nodded in the affirmative.

James walked in, they both dished their food and left the food stand.

The Reconciliation (Part 61)

At lunch, Agnes was about finishing her dessert when she sighted Afryea talking with another chef, she walked towards her,

“Hello my friend, I brought you the book as agreed”

“Friend”

“Yes you are my friend now”.

” Hmmm”

“Please read the book and I am sure you will want to be called the daughter of my Heavenly Father by the time you finish reading it.

” Really”

“Yes, that means we will become sisters through redemption in Christ Jesus.

” Alright ma”.

Agnes left to finish her food.

“What’s that one saying?”. Afryea’s colleague asked.

” She brought me a book, she also called me her friend “

“Friend?, You , a friend to a rich babe, just tell her you want to be their chef or do they want to employ you?. At least, you too will enjoy their money small” Ajoba said and creased up.

“I don’t know what you are talking about, all I know is that I like that lady. She seems to be humble and I want the God that lifted her up to be my God”

“Na today”

“Please I need to attend to something, excuse me” Afryea said and left.

“I have decided to join him” Agnes’s mother said as Agnes picked her call.

“At last, mum, thanks so much for this, this is quite surprising” Agnes replied.

“Welcome love”

“When are you planning to leave?”

“Soon, I will finalise with him and we will inform you all. He kept saying he needs my assistance with his bakery so that he can face his other business”

“Good one , seems Aunty Christy was overseeing that for him previously though there is a manager.

” He said so but I am sure it’s not about the bakery, he just wants my beautiful face around”

“Mum, well, congratulations ma, love you ma”.

“Thanks dear, say me well to your darling husband, he called me yesterday”.

” Alright ma, really”.

The Reconciliation (Part 62)

(Apologies just posting now, I had issues with my phone).

James’s jaw dropped as he finished his call, Agnes noticed.

“What happened darling”.

“We will have to leave for Nigeria today”.

“Why? Thought we are leaving in two days time”.

“Hold on darling” James dialled a number. “Please give him the phone, this can be settled here” he said as the receiver picked.

“Sir, do you believe Jesus can do this?.

” Son, you know I have always known Jesus, I have always worked for Him”.

“Uncle, I do not mean knowing Jesus by being a member of a church, I mean accepting Him as your Lord”.

“We have had this talk severally James , I have been in church before your parents met each other”.

“I know but Jesus wants you to be closer with him. Please let the remaining time you have here count for Him sir”.

“See if it is because of my drinking habit and polygamy nature, these do not say I am not of God”.

“Uncle, can I ask you a question please? If you die today, are you sure of spending your eternity in heaven?”.

There was silence at the other end.

” Uncle , uncle, please answer me”.

“James, I will call you back”.

“We can talk now sir, Do you want to be where my late mum is?”.

“Son”.

“Sir, your decision will be a great blessing to your children, at least Kunle will want to change too”.

James could hear the little sound of sobbing until the elderly man couldn’t control himself again.

“Son, is it not too late?” He said after a while.

“No sir, it’s only late after death. Can we pray together as you come to the Saviour?”.

“Yes, I am tired of seeing my own son following my wayward lifestyle”.

” Really”.

“Yes son”.

“Let pray then”.

James couldn’t contain his joy as his uncle gave his life to Christ.

He held Agnes and they both danced around the room.

Uncle D as he was mostly called is James’s only surviving maternal uncle. Over the years, he has been a pathological drinker, he has been diagnosed previously with diabetes and high blood pressure, and recently with pancreatitis.

“Don’t you think he needs some counselling and follow up afterwards?. I have a male friend who is into Alcohol Addiction Counselling, he is also a Christian, I think he can take this up”.Agnes said.

“Really, let’s call him up then”.

Agnes dialled her friend’s number.

The Reconciliation (Part 63)

James’s phone beeped as he entered the car, some minutes after they arrived at the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos. He smiled as he read the message, he looked at Agnes and said,

“In about nine month’s time, I will send this kind of message to people”.

“What kind of message?”.

He showed Agnes the text message.

“It is with great joy that we are glad to announce the arrival of our charming prince. He arrived early hours of today, praise the Lord with us. Sola& Tito”.

Agnes smiled and said amen to James’s earlier prayer.

“We will have to visit them but for now, let’s call them”. He dialled Tito’s number and put it on speaker.

Sola took the call.

” Congratulations sir, I saw the message, how are they doing?”.

“Thanks, they are both fine, thanks for the call, she is sleeping now”.

“Okay, we will call back, my wife will like to speak with her”.

“Alright sir, my apologies I couldn’t attend your wedding, I had a family function that day so my wife had to attend your wedding in company of Sade and her husband”.

” No problem, she delivered your good wishes, enjoy your day and do take care of them”.

“Thanks and Bye.

James smiled as he dropped the call.

” Finally Agnes has gotten her miracle, God is indeed wonderful “.

“He is, He does wonders without number”.

” Yes”

“How did you feel when she said she can’t marry you?”.

“Darling, that period was a whole different experience for me but it drew me back to God. Thank God, He finally gave me a beautiful lady”.

“What if I didn’t agree to marry me”.

” You mean you will refuse a handsome man like me, I know you have eyes for good things, you won’t do that. Not with all those fire prayers the twins made”.

Agnes shook her head, smiled and said,

“Coup Plotters”.

” We agree”.

THE RECONCILIATION PART 64

The twins hugged the couple as they alighted from the car.

“Daddy, we missed you”.

“Aunty Agnes, how was your honeymoon?.

“How was the ship cruise?”

“Daddy, hope you bought…”.

“Girls, can you please be gracious enough to allow us enter the house first?”.

“Ok dad”.

They assisted in packing their luggages inside the house.

“Now, what were you girls up to while we were away?”.

“A lot but dad, we want your gist first “.

“Well, we had great time, nice treat on the ship and good time in Ghana too”.

“How is Uncle Tiwa doing? Hope Aunty Wunmi sent our Kente fabrics?.

“Yes , she did and she gave me one for my birthday too “.Agnes answered.

“Birthday, oh your birthday”. Tiye winked at Kenny and the two of them went to the kitchen.
Kenny brought out a beautiful cake and Tiye brought a fruit wine.

Agnes rose up as she saw the cake and on it was written,

“Happy Birthday Aunty Agnes”.

Tiye rushed upstairs to their room afterwards and brought out two customized photo pillows with Agnes picture on them.

As she admired the throw pillows and appreciated the twins, James wondered how they got the money for the gifts.

“Thanks for the gifts but please where did this money come from?”.

“Dad, you and mum taught us to save”.

‘’Okay, so you took out of your savings for this, I am sure Agnes will transfer multiple of that to your account soon”.

“Dad, you are trying to spoil our fun, more so, we took it from our cash savings not from the bank”.

“Okay, I give up, you people already outnumbered me but please can my wife be released to me now? We need to sort out some things in the room”.

“Dad, we are just trying to welcome her to the family, Dad you are the chief host, so, please, we need your presence here too”.

“Are there any more surprises?”.

“Yes, there is more” Agnes answered and as she brought out two dresses from her box for the girls.

As the girls appreciated the gifts, James felt left alone.

“So, in all these, there is no gift for the head of the family, I think I need a boy in this house very soon, I will pray for hard on this”. James said.

They all laughed as James demonstrated this by going on his right knee.

“Okay, let me surprise you by cooking a delicious and yummy groundnut soup tomorrow”Agnes said.

“I can’t wait for it”.

“The girls have their heart full of love”.Agnes said as they left for the bedroom.

” Are you surprised? “.They got that from their mum”.

” Its true, madam had enough love in her heart to share for everyone “.

” Kate was an epistle I couldn’t finish reading “.

” Hmmm”.

“What’s the issue?.

” Nothing “.

The Reconciliation (Part 65)

As Tito’s baby was named, she silently gave glory to God, grateful for the privilege to experience motherhood.

Two days after the naming ceremony and when they were all having breakfast, Sola’s phone rang, Tito noticed his countenance changed after receiving the call.

“Sweetheart, who was that?”.

Sola was silent, he dropped the fork afterwards.

“Is there any problem?”.

“Please can we finish our breakfast first?. He scooped some rice.

“No please, you look disturbed.

“It’s George”.

“George , your son?”.

“The call is from his mum, he is on admission at the hospital, his school bus had an accident and he sustained some injuries”.

“What”.

His phone rang again.

“George, how are you doing now?,” He paused, “You want me to come over? . Son, I know you are not feeling okay but your mum is doing a good job”.

He paused again.

“I can’t come now please, I just had ano….., sorry I just can’t come now. Please I will call you on Skype later. You know daddy loves you, bye for now.

“Sweetheart, what’s the issue?”.

“He wants me to visit him, he has been telling his mum for a while”.

“Really, so what’s your plan”.

“Honestly , I don’t know now”.

Tito sighed and went inside the room to attend to her baby.

An hour later, Sola came inside the room.

“There is an issue please”.

“What again?”.

“He, he.., his mum wants him to relocate to Nigeria “.

“Excuse me”.

“Tito please”.

“For a visit or permanently?“.

“She is tired of single parenting, more so, she said she is getting married soon”.

“This is a joke right”.

Sola sat beside Tito and held her hands.

“Dear, please , I need your help”.

“Excuse me please “. She tries to stand up.

“Please”.

“You want to dump him on me because Kike is here but remember I asked you about him”.

“No dear, that’s not the intention, this just came up and you know how much I have come to love Kike”.
