The demands of life make many of us wake up every day to pursue our “hustle” for daily bread. The philosophy is simple: He who does not work should not eat (2 Thessalonians 3:10). People hustle daily for all sorts of things – money, clothes, property, spouses, travel opportunities, food, illicit sex, children, promotion etc.

A major driver for this hustle is that there is a perceived scarcity of these things and since we need these things we need to go out and seek them. Note that when you have surplus of anything, your hustle for that thing ends and you move on to another hustle (Luke 12:15).

That is the basis of the world economy. It is based on the principle of demand and supply or buying and selling.

However, there is another economy in which everything is in abundant supply. This is God’s economy (Psalm 24:1) in which their is abundant resources from which you can draw from as you have need. As long as you walk according to God’s will, you will lack nothing. It is an economy in which you can spend from the pocket of God. This economy is based on the principle of sowing and reaping (Galatians 6:7) as well as giving and receiving (Luke 6:38).

The devils strategy is to blind the eyes of believers to the surplus in and eternal nature of God’s economy and get them to focus rather on the scarcity in and temporary benefits of the world economy. (2 cor 4:4)

Which economy are you operating in?

Let us not Lay up for ourselves treasures upon earth where moth and rust corrupt and where thieves can break through and steal in the world economy. Rather lay up treasures in heaven in Gods economy that remain forever (Mathew 6:19-20)
