Losing the gift for not using it by Mike Bamiloye
Matthew 25:26-29
[26] His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
[27] Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
[28] Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
[29] For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
Many years ago, when we had just produced our movie titled “THE GREAT MISTAKE”, we had a drama workshop and many drama ministers were invited from various churches. It was a very impactful seminar and Workshop at the end of which many people were asking questions during the Questions Time. Then a young man rose up from the third row close to the front and took the microphone. He said he was not standing up to ask any question, but to express that he was at the saddest moment of his life. We all wondered what he meant.
He said, the new movie of Mount Zion: “The Great Mistake” is a great movie, and it will give many people divine directions in life, but that movie was the greatest sadness of his life. Then, he explained further: He had written a play about a year before then, which he intended to shoot into a movie. But he had kept shifting it forward and postponing the film shooting until he pushed the entire idea beside him. Then, he bought the new movie of Mount Zion and watched it with astonishment. The exact message in the Mount Zion’s “Great Mistake” was the exact message in the script he had procrastinated for long and abandoned. He began to lament and regret that if he went ahead to shoot the movie now, won’t people conclude that he had copied Mount Zion film?
That was when we understood his sadness. It was absolutely understandable. That was the evil of Procrastination and negligence of God’s gifts and grace.
The Bible passage above is from one of the popular parables of Jesus Christ. The Parable of the Talents. the ones that were given 5 talents traded with them and gained five more talents, so also was the ones given two talents. They gained two more talents with it. But the one that was given one talent went ahead to bury the talent with using it. He gained nothing. No profit from his gift. Probably because it was JUST ONE GIFT. So at the coming of the Master, He was furious with the Unprofitable Servant. He ordered that the Unused Talent be taken from him and given to the man who had gained five extra talents more.
So, the man who had had talents now had one more with it, making eleven talent in total. so, the man who had got one talent now had nothing in his hand.
VERY SIMPLE: THE GIFT WAS RELOCATED FROM AN UNPROFITABLE SERVANT INTO THE HAND OF A PROFITABLE SERVANT. SO THE GIFT HAD NOT BEEN DESTROYED. AND IT CAN NOT BE DESTROYED, IT CAN ONLY BE RELOCATED INTO THE HAND AND CUSTODY OF ANOTHER MAN, A PROFITABLE MAN.
The summary is this, when a person is unprofitable with a gift or talent, the Lord has the power of relocating the power of the gift or talent from his hand into the hand and custody of another man, a Profitable Man, who would use the gift and talent or career for the glory of the Lord.
Have you once heard of or experienced situations whereby what you know how to do before; the gift or opportunities you once had which had not been properly utilized; the talents you did not use to pursue the Lord’s agenda, suddenly left your hand and custody. You could not do what you could do before again. The opportunities to use the gift and talents that were opened were no longer available?
THE GIFT OR TALENT OR THE OPPORTUNITY OF FULFILLING DIVINE AGENDA HAVE PROBABLY BEEN RELOCATED INTO THE HANDS AND CUSTODY OF ANOTHER MAN, A PROFITABLE MAN.
It is probably the unused gifts, the unsung composed musics, the unpublished messages, the upshot or unused scripts have been TRANSFERRED into the hands and custody of the man who would readily turn it into instrument of winning souls and healing hearts and strengthening and edifying lives. It means GIFTS , TALENTS AND OPPORTUNITIES will keep leaving the hands and custodians of Unprofitable Child of God.
Have you ever noticed that profitable children of God, dedicated and faithful vineyard workers, devoted men of God get more works to do, more visions keep coming to them, more doors keep opening to them; new ideas keep multiplying upon them? IT MEANS, NEW GIFTS, TALENTS, AND OPPORTUNITIES will keep coming upon Profitable and Faithful Children of God. And their blessings, benefits and privileges will keep increasing.
What are you doing with the Gift of Music composition the Lord has given to you? Are you really faithful with this gift or you think you are the owner of the gift and talent, and you could do whatever you like with it.
Some people think, they could choose to use their gifts any how and at anywhere they like, and they could choose not to use the gift at all. The simple truth is they risk losing the Relevance of such Gifts or Talents when they do not move at the Lord’s timing; when they drag their feet; when they procrastinate the use of the gift at appropriate times; when they abandon their spiritual and ministerial responsibilities all together. THEY LOSE WHAT THEY HAVE WHILE ANOTHER SERVANTS GAIN IT.
Revelation 3:11 KJV
Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
Are you faithful and profitable with the gifts and talents the Lord gave to you? Are you using it to the Glory of God or to the satisfying of the pleasure of yourself?
Your writing gift is not for the purpose of writing irrelevant social things, on the social media, discover God’s divine purpose for Giving it to you. Discover the real reasons behind God giving you the promotion or the employment He gave to you; discover the real purpose He had in mind for any special Opportunities He gave to you, less you lose it.
