US-Based Pastor and gospel filmmaker, Converter Adeyemo has wadded into the Jesus Trend making rounds the social media for few days now, saying when people are posting or saying Jesus without adding Christ to it, It makes no difference.

Converter made this known in a telephone interview with Gospel Film News on Wednesday.

“The whole thing can be mixed up when you are saying Jesus, Jesus, so which Jesus are you talking about, is it Jesus the son of God, is it Jesus Christ the Saviour, is it Jesus the Footballer, is it Jesus the project engineer, we have so many Jesus in America and every part of the world, people name their children Jesus also in the western world, so when you just say Jesus, Jesus, some people will just say what is wrong ,why are you calling my name but there is only one Jesus Christ, so if you don’t write Jesus Christ or Jesus the son of God then you are not getting it,” he said.

Converter Adeyemo who is the president of Grace Revealer Intl Ministries added that “even the Bible make us understand that Jesus Christ died for our sin, so dieing for our sin make us understand the Jesus he was talking about, the one that died for us and bring us salvation, connecting us back to God for as many that believe in the finish work of Calvary .”

He concluded his submission with Mark 10:47 “And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.” And phillipians 2: 10-11“ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

A Response to “Jesus” and “Jesus Christ” is Not the Same

Hmmm… I really don’t expect that this would be said that saying only “JESUS”without adding “Christ” is not acceptable or ambiguous. We all know that many people answer Jesus or Joshua in many contexts, however, saying that it is incorrect to mention Jesus without adding “Christ”, is itself what I find not biblical. A run down of Jesus in the concordance shows “Jesus Christ” has been rightly identified by several titles added to His main Name “Jesus”. And at other times, the Name only has been used for Him severally in the scriptures without anyone raising objections.

For instance, you can find the following:
Jesus Christ, Christ Jesus, Lord Jesus, Lord Jesus Christ, and importantly, JESUS, used alone.

There are several scriptural instances in which the Name of “Jesus” alone has been used without adding the “Christ” even for evangelism and that does not alter the meaning and intentions.

Just to substantiate what I have said, the following are 12 relevant scriptural instances. (Note: There are several other examples where Jesus has been used with the title Christ or another, but I’ll focus only on where and how the name Jesus has been rightly used without the additional Christ as the objections raised). You can go through them too to substantiate this position.

    1. Acts 8:35 KJV
[35] Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

    2. Even Jesus identified Himself so

    Acts 9:5 KJV
[5] And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

    3. Acts 9:27 KJV
[27] But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.

    4. Acts 13:33 KJV
[33] God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

    5. Acts 17:18 KJV
[18] Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.

    6. Acts 19:15 KJV
[15] And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?

    7. Acts 28:23 KJV
[23] And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

    8. Romans 3:26 KJV
[26] To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

    9. 2 Corinthians 4:11 KJV
[11] For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

    10. Matthew 1:21 KJV
[21] And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

    11. Revelation 19:10 KJV
[10] And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

    12. Revelation 14:12 KJV
[12] Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

In conclusion, both Jesus, Jesus Christ can mean the same thing. Even here in a non-Christian environment, once you say JESUS, the first that comes to mind is Jesus the Saviour, Messiah or Christ. Thus, let’s lay that to rest. Both Jesus and Jesus Christ have been used in the scripture with same outcome, and there is no difference today.
