A Canada drama ministry, Immanuel Fellowship Films has released a new movie entitled “Affluenza.”
The movie which was released recently potrayed a rich man who was never satisfied with his riches and doesn’t know how to resist the devil as taught by Jesus in Matthew 4:1-10.
In a Statement made available to Gospel Film News, issued by the ministry and signed by the producer, Rev. (Dr.) Sunday Akin Olukoju noted that “Affluenza is defined as “the negative psychological or behavioral effects of having or pursuing wealth”, or as the “excessive materialism or desire for wealth, associated with negative effects.” This movie “Affluenza” he said revolves around the Word of God in the Book of 1 Timothy 6:9-10 which explains “Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs,” and Since money is the vehicle of acquisition, the blind race get rich at all costs has led to the destructive virus known as “Affluenza”.
According to Olukoju, “Affluenza” movie exposes the rotten lifestyle of spoilt brats who live large on their parents’ illicit dirty wealth. “Affluenza virus has become the almighty killer: forcing citizens to rob their countries blind, blinding believers to turn money into gods they shamelessly worship, and turning the world upside down with death and destruction all over,” he added.
He stressed that Affluenza movie takes viewers back to Matthew 4:1-10 where Jesus Himself was tempted with affluence when He was here in the physical, saying If money, wealth, and affluence cannot buy Jesus, His followers must not fall for it, noting that when a believer worships money, he becomes a slave of the devil and will forever live a miserable life of discontentment.
The producer further stated that: “Many leaders raped their countries to death – but today they are no more! Not a single one takes a dime into their graves. The movie “Affluenza” has a message for everyone: “Godliness with contentment is great gain.” The rich man will die one day – just like the poor man, and after death will be judgment. No matter how rich a man is, if he fears God, his wealth and affluence will never control him. Many rich people in the developed world create foundations with which they shared their wealth with the common people. Many continue to support great and godly causes many years after they are no more. They live modest lifestyle.”
The movie shows that affluenza virus leads to death – physically and spiritually, while godliness with contentment leads to great gain – physically and spiritually! Most people that fell prey to advanced fee fraud did so due to their eagerness for money that blinded their sense of reasoning.
Olukoju prays that the movie will bless souls and rescue those that are about falling into the open mouth of the devil.
