Female Gospel Movie Directors Raising The Stake

In the early days of the advent of the gospel film industry, directing has been seen as majorly the work of the male gender. It is difficult to count a single director that is a female gender, but since about two decades ago, many females are taking up the role of director in the gospel film industry.
Gospel Film News compiled a list of some of the female movie directors in the gospel film industry raising the stake in the world of directing:
1. BOLA AKANDE
Bola Akande is an UK-based Nigerian, a master degree holder in Filmmaking from Manchester University of Arts.
The Creative Director of HPGMedia is the second daughter of ace filmmaker, Late Mr Olusola Ishola Ogunsola a.k.a Dr I Sho Pepper.
She has carved a niche for herself in filmmaking, as she has directed blockbuster gospel movies like Love Uncut, Broken, Behind Her Mask, Caged, etc.
Bola Akande is married to Kola Akande and they are blessed with three children.
2. ADENIKE ADEREMI-FASHIKUN
Adenike Aderemi-Fashikun is a director at Trinity Comminications and Faith-Lift Productions.
She holds a Master Degree in Theology and has undergone various trainings in Film productions.
Although she is publicity-shy, Adenike has appeared in several gospel movies. Most of her works has drawn more attention to her in recent times.
Adenike has been an Active Drama minister for close to three decades and has served as assistant director on many projects but started her directing career in 2017 with the ‘Wayward Darling’.
Some of the Movies, she has directed include Tarry Not, Without Tears, The Prodigal, Not an Orphan, From the Dunghill, Journey to Hell, Wayward Darling, Sun-Maid etc.
She has also Directed a number of Documentaries of note.
3. SEYI PEDRO-ADETOLA
Seyi Pedro-Adetola is unarguably one of the successful female film directors in the gospel film industry.
She flaunt the production outfit name Christ The Rock Media Communication.
A master degree holder who knows her onions when it comes to directing.
The former Federal Government employee left her good paid job to face the gospel film industry fully.
She has her imprint in many gospel movies as director, some of the movies are Moment before Midnight, Oore-Ofe, When You Stare, Weapon, Who is the fool?, Not Again, Kokomania, etc.
Seyi Pedro-Adetola is married to Pedro Adetola and they are blessed with a girl.
4. OPEYEMI AKINTUNDE
Opeyemi Akintunde is a gospel novelist and filmmaker, she is the President of Deep Thots Films.
The graduate of Mass Communication from Covenant University started her voyage into filmmaking with the production of her First Feature Film titled “UNFAILING LOVE ” which featured now popular musician SIMISOLA, followed was award winning POISONOUS HONEY. After this she went into Short Films like “NOT LIKE YOU , Left Behind, The Spear, My Weakness, Big Girls Don’t Fight, Record Keepers.
She has also produced high-budget and thought provoking movies like Stepping into Maggie’s Shoes (SIMS), Finding the One, etc.
She is the writer of popular novels like TEACHER CHUKS, ISOKENE, RECKLESS REKKY and over 15 Other Titles.
She is married to Akinwale Akintunde, a preacher. They are blessed with amazing children.
5. ADEOLA ADEDAMOLA-SALAKO
Adeola Adedamola-Salako, a graduate of Theatre Arts from University of Lagos (UNILAG) is a Gospel Filmmakers who has directed many gospel movies, some of which has being shown on Africa Magic and other online platforms.
She is a Director at Candidseed Network.
Some of the movies directed by the versatile director are Momi (My Mother), Atanda Onilu, Pique, Chicancery, Ferocious, etc.
Adeola Adedamola-Salako is married to a gospel actor, Adedamola Salako.
6. TOYIN FATUNSIN
Toyin Fatunsin was once regarded as the younger producer in the gospel film industry, a graduate of Microbiology from Lagoke Adetola University of Technology (LAUTECH)
The Spain-based Nigerian has been consistent with filmmaking, she has transcended from only producing to directing top notch gospel movies.
She is a director at The Overcomers Film Productions Int’l
She has directed movies like Tactics, Lost Identity, Living for Tomorrow, The Message, I Promise you Lord, etc.
Toyin Fatunsin is married to Dr. Olumide Fatunsin and blessed with children.
7. CHIOMA CHUKWULOTAM
Chioma Chukwulotam, an Accountant by training is an alumnus of Christoline Film Academy and Mount Zion Institute of Christian Drama.
She cut her teeth as an actress and continuity manager but later spread her wings into directing and has directed gospel flicks like Laide’s Notes, The Bond, etc.
8. ANGEL VICTOR ISAAC
Angel Victor Isaac is known for her insatiable crave for high quality movies.
She is the CEO of Iview Media Productions.
The newly wedded filmmaker combines Cinemtography and Editing with Directing.
She has produced movies like Dear Woman, Finding the One, etc.
She is married to Victor Isaac.
