Exclusive: why we awarded KSO – South West Nigeria Excellence Award

Following the award received by the veteran gospel film maker, Evangelist Kolade Segun-Okeowo, the organizers of the award have revealed why the film maker was given award of excellence in the whole of South West, Nigeria amongst others.
In an interview with Gospel Film News, the coordinator of South West Nigeria Excellence Award, Pastor Honey Olawale noted that Kolade Segun-Okeowo, KSO is a man who has impacted his community and they’ve been hearing about him for a very long time, adding that this particular year, people nominated him because of a lot of things he has done and the award committee felt it is time to honour him as a person.
He further stated that, “he has done many things that I can’t begin to mention now and I verified it as the head of the screening committee and it is actually true.”

Olawale who disclosed that none of the award recipient was aware of the screening and nomination process until they received letter of award conferment said KSO was considered based on his impact on his immediate community.
“We considered his impact on his immediate community. He has brought up so many programmes. Apart from his acting career he has influenced so many people. He has organized several conferences and several welfare packages for people,” Olawale noted.
South West Nigeria Excellence Award which was held over the weekend at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife had families and fans of KSO in attendance wearing a branded shirt of the film maker cum politician.
While speaking, the programme compere, Steve described KSO as a thespian for excellence, saying that irrespective of the category, KSO is a force to reckon with.
