Veteran and excellent cinematographer, Ben Ope Johnson has stated that Movie Crew Shouldn’t be part of the people to be given honourarium during film production, rather should be paid any amount they bargained, Gospel Film News report.
The cinematographer made this statement on his verified Facebook handle in a post he titled “Producer, God wants to bless your work.”
He started the post by stating that if producer want to give honorarium to people, movie crew shouldn’t be part of them.
Beejay as fondly called by colleagues further explained that Movie Crew are labourers and the bible says, labourers are worthy of their wages.
Gospel Film News gathered that while buttressing his point he added that Movie Crew will be the first and the last on all movie set, they mostly eat what is left, have no other jobs, yet have families, live in rented apartments and have landlords.
Movie Crew according to him also pay school fees, pay for training, want to change clothes, sleeps anywhere, but Movie Crew are not celebrated like actors, don’t have equal opportunities like actors, easily get sick, easily get wounded, are mostly insulted, carry heavy loads, they most times work round the clock, they are the pillars that carry production burdens, and they are humans too.
In conclusion he encouraged the producers to please pay what they agree with them and not to maltreat them.
