Known for her unwavering commitment to the gospel through drama, Olufunmilayo Omolola has continued to inspire many with her faith, discipline, and passion for ministry. As she marks another birthday in October, she reflects on her journey, the support she has received, and her vision for the future.

Olufunmilayo Omolola, is a legal practitioner by profession, also a drama minister by calling.

In an exclusive interview with Gospel Film News, while celebrating her birthday, she shared her inspiring journey in ministry, her experiences, and the people who have influenced her along the way.

“I started acting majorly when I was serving. That was when I became the drama coordinator for NCCF, Edo State in 1993. That was when my acting journey began,” she said.

“My husband is a very understanding type, and so he has given me the opportunity to do what will please God and what will make me happy. He has always supported me after fulfilling the purpose. We served together. We met during the service year and he knew how passionate I was about drama ministry, so we had already talked about it even before we got married. Before we got married, he has been up to the work of the ministry and he has been very supportive financially, prayerfully, encouraging, and in every other way. I really appreciate him. Honestly, I couldn’t have been able to do this much if he had not been supportive.”

Sharing one of her spiritual experiences, she said, “we were having a seminar sometime ago and before the seminar, I had a dream that one of my drama member died, so when we started the seminar, it was about makeup, so we were been taught how to use gun, immediately the person said we are going to do a particular thing around the stomach and put banger, I remember the dream, I said no, let’s go and demonstrate it on a wood or plank, so we did, immediately the gun was shot the zinc turn into pieces, if it was somebody that would have been the end and this person that was to be used for the scene was insisting that the stuff should be on him, but I said no, I really want to appreciate God that delivers our body and soul from sorrow.”

Speaking about her mentors, Omolola said, “I remember before I met Mummy Gloria Bamiloye, I have always admired her and the way she walks with God. She has always been my role model even before I met her. I also came into Mount Zion when I saw some other sisters who were passionate; they were with the drama ministry. Mummy Badejo, I love the way she acts and her prayer life has been challenging, also met Omolara Ayoola, I love the way she act, all these people have been my mentors.” www.gospelfilmnews.com

Talking about the Christian film industry, she said, “We are really making impact in the industry, and things have changed technically. There are stories and the pressing about spirituality. It is really interesting that people are listening to it, and it is refreshing to watch. The growth in the movie industry has been great.”

Looking ahead, Omolola shared her vision: “In the next 10 years, we want much improvement technically. We are going to take over completely.”
