CELEBRATING REMI OLONINISI: TEN YEARS AFTER

By Kolade Segun-Okeowo
Aderemi Olabode Oloninisi, was born in Ilorin on 7th January, 1975 to the family of Late Chief and Chief (Mrs) Rufus Olu Oloninisi from Oga, Kogi State.

The third in the family of three boys, young Aderemi attended the prestigious Trinity Nursery & Primary School and St. Barnabas Primary School, Sabo-oke, Ilorin for his primary education. Afterwards, Remi got admitted into the famous Government Secondary School, Ilorin in 1987 where he successfully graduated in 1993.

In his quest to further his education, he enrolled for IJMB which later earned him admission into The Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State to study Civil Engineering. Aderemi Oloninisi was also an Alumnus of The Mount Zion Institute of Christian Drama, Ile-Ife, Osun, State.

Aderemi met with Christ in 1994 and was called into the ministry, precisely on 23rd October, 1994. The evidence of Gods calling upon him was great that he could hardly think of any other thing to do other than working full time in the drama ministry despite his Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) Degree in Civil Engineering.

Our beloved brother got married to Sister Anne Adenike Oloninisi (Nee Fashikun) who is also a renowned drama minister in 2007 and the marriage is blessed with a son, Oluwasemilore Oluwadarasimi Adedamola Aderemi-Oloninisi in 2008. Indeed Remi found a helpmeet in Adenike, who was a great support for him in life and ministry even to the point of death. Truly, “whosoever found a wife, find a good thing, and obtain favour of the LORD.

To the Glory of God, Engineer Aderemi Olabode Oloninisi, left behind a functioning drama ministry; His Supremacy Christian Ministries (HISUM) and Trinity Communications which God committed into his hands. He had four films to his credit, (Mase W’eyin, Olugbeja Dide, Costly Assumption and By Violence) and was working on the fifth one (Dangerous Delay) when he passed on to glory.

Aderemi had strong passion for film acting and directing. This, he demonstrated in directing about thirty (30) Christian films of repute and countless stage drama ministrations in virtually all the geo-political zones of this nation. He had also featured in about 100 Christian films, which of course have led and have continue to lead many souls to Christ.

Obviously, Aderemis vision for the drama ministry was to bring as many as possible to the fold of Christ through active evangelism. His passion was also to raise several others in the work of the ministry. To the Glory of God, several of his protégés are doing exploits in the drama ministry today. In the midst of other attractive alternatives, he became a promising Civil Engineer turned drama Evangelist for the Lord.

His contribution at the state and national levels of All Nigeria Conference of Evangelical Drama Ministers (ANCEDRAM) cannot be over-emphasised. As a silent warrior, he served as an Editor of the ANCEDRAMs national magazine; THE UNCTION, for eight (8) years. Until his death, he was a member of Nigeria Guild of Evangelical Moviemakers (NGEM).

HISUM; the ministry where he served as President, has among other arms, The Trinity Film Institute (TFI) Ilorin. To the glory of God, testimonies abound in this new arm of the ministry.

One of his very last statements, THE WAR IS OVER connotes that ADEREMI OLABODE OLONINISI has fought victoriously a good fight of faith. The war is over because his pain is over, the war is over because his trouble is over, the war is over because he has crossed over, indeed the war is over because he is resting in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Till when we shall meet to part no more… GOOD NIGHT ADEREMI !!!

  1. Continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord, bro Aderemi Oloninisi. May God continue to be with the family you left behind. We celebrate you always knowing that you’ve fought the fight and won the race. Rest on sir.

  2. I actually love and salute this man. I discovered I wasn’t seeing him in movies again and was patiently expecting another movie in which he would feature when Evang. Kolade Segun Okeowo posted the picture he took with his (Bro Remi) only son on Facebook at (I think) an occasion about 3-4 years ago. It really saddened my heart to know he’s been called to glory since 2009.
Continue to rest in the bosom of the Saviour. Your work is still speaking sir.

  3. I did not know Aderemi, but I saw him in the movie- “The Forgotten zones.” I just the memory of him in the movie – Tarry Not”
May is soul rest in perfect peace.”
My condolences to his family and all the ministries that he worked with.
